Tech Chickadee is just one person at the moment! My name is Philip and I am a retired software developer, hobbyist photographer, and technology enthusiast with a passion for problem solving. I graduated from the University of Maine with a B.S. in Physics, and through my career I have done Bioinformatics, Veterinary diagnostics troubleshooting, enterprise software development, tutoring, and teaching - from basic arithmetic to calculus, software, and physics.
I started Tech Chickadee because I found that many business owners needed a little bit of IT/Tech help from time to time, but most didn't have the budget to hire a full time IT person. Large IT firms can be a little difficult and impersonal, and my goal is to establish a good human relationship with my clients.
I love problem solving and I love having the opportunity to work across a wide range of disciplines. Tech Chickadee gives me the opportunity to do just that!
I offer project based pricing as well as hourly rates. Costs depend on the type of work and the amount of time required compared to my availability. Equipment is generally sold at-cost, you only pay for labor. In some cases, like in the building of custom desktop PCs, labor is charged as a proportion of the equipment cost. In general, I do estimates for free to get an idea of what your project is and whether or not it's a good fit.
No matter what the situation is, I try to make sure you have an accurate idea of what things will cost and how long they will take. Setting appropriate expectations is very important to me, and while I am not on call 24/7 you will never be ghosted or left hanging during a project.
Ultimately my goal is to work with nice folks on interesting problems while keeping my refrigerator stocked. Feel free to reach out; no inquiry is too small!
